Jake and I went church shopping today, and it was very successful! We are getting married at St. Patrick's in Nashville on Satuday July 24, 2010. It can seat 200 people comfortably, which is perfect for us. The rehearsal is even booked for Friday July 23, 2010 at 6:30pm. Father Dave has known Jake and his mom for many years, and he will be able to marry us. The church is small and intimate, which is perfect for what we have in mind.
The church was originally built in 1890, and the inside was painted about four years ago. It's only a few blocks from downtown, so it'll be really easy for everyone to get to the reception (wherever that is, haha). The pews have carved crosses along the aisles, which are so beautiful. Over the altar it says "Sanctus" three times (it means holy), and inbetween each is a fleur de lis! I love that so much.
Father Dave gave us a booklet that describes the ceremony. We get to pick which opening prayer we like, if we want any readings (a great way for people who aren't in the wedding party to be a part of the ceremony), and how we want the vows presented (as a question and we just say "I do" or we can repeat each phrase after him). It's very exciting, and I can't believe we've started planning the wedding already!
Oh my gosh.. this church is SO perfect! This sounds really really lovely :-)
